JLL’s Jerry Sullivan, senior vice president of New Jersey’s project and development services (PDS), shares the impact of upgrading the workplace to encourage collaboration and productivity.
Given the trends we are tracking in the workplace, Sullivan indicates “Greater focus on including programmed work areas that have mixed-use, multi-functional attributes for meetings, work activities and socialization are becoming important benefits to employees when they evaluate their work experience.”
One example of JLL New Jersey’s PDS team partnering to re-imagine an office to boost collaboration is Flight Centre Travel Group’s (FCTG) headquarters upgrade in Montvale, NJ. Incorporating the client’s vision and working with their design team, JLL developed the company’s new dynamic space. The results of the project management efforts with CallisonRTKL, Duggal Visual Solutions, the British Film Institute and Holt Construction Corporation yielded a highly interactive new workplace.
Key elements in the new space that encourage engagement include a multi-functional lounge equipped with video games, a shuffle board, ping pong table and yoga space. Walking treadmill workstations, bench/touch down style desks and soft seating are incorporated throughout, along with inspiring travel murals to enhance the modern office.
“These upgraded elements celebrate our unique corporate culture and allow us to have a more collaborative work environment,” said Taleen Banelian, project lead and vice president of property and procurement for FCTG. “We’ve created a space where our staff can work comfortably and have the ability to relax and rejuvenate.”
